Adoption Counseling

If you are considering making an adoption plan for your child, or would like to know more about what that means we would be happy to discuss the process with you. Research shows that most pregnant women are misinformed about adoption. Nowadays most domestic adoptions are "open". This means that expectant parents can participate in choosing the family that they want to adopt their child. Often birth parents develop a relationship with the adopting family.

Our adoption experts will work with you to determine if adoption is right for you and your child. We can help you understand your rights in the process. We can help you to create a list of questions for talking with prospective adoptive parents and bridge the gap of talking about difficult topics. If you do make an adoption plan you will likely need ongoing support after the placement of the child. We are experienced in working with birth parents after the adoption to assist you with processing your feelings and making plans for the future.

Birth Parents

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can feel like a lonely experience. It is so important to take your time to consider all the options available to you and explore the consequences and impact of each. Our counselors talk with expectant parents and provide resources to support them in whatever decision they make. We assist birth parents by providing accurate information that is not biased toward one particular outcome. We help expectant parents explore their fears, strengths, resources and future goals throughout the decision making process.

Should you decide that adoption is best for you we are here to support you every step of the way. Choosing the right family for your child is an enormous decision. Fortunately we have many loving families to consider. Adoption Matters will help you find medical care if needed, secure health insurance and ensure that you are stable and well supported. Our expectant mother case managers want to make certain that you understand all of your rights in the adoption process and make a decision that is in your best interests and those of your child. You will receive counseling as support throughout the adoption process and after placement. We are able to help with certain living expenses to make sure your needs are met.
